The fact that I have thirteen cats at home is no secret. It says so right in my author bio. I know… I know… that’s a lot of cats. It is, but we make it work.

My husband and I call our home the cat farm, and we’re not wrong with that description. There’s lots of chores and cat fur involved, and we gladly take care of it all.

You would think with everything that comes with running a farm, I’d never find the time to write, but I honestly feel that they make me a better writer.

Cat cuddles are the best medicine when you’re stressed, and believe me, there’s been lots of stress over the last year. IYKYK

They keep me on my toes, forcing me to get up from the writing desk every so often to stretch my legs. Nothing says “take a break” like a crash from the other room.

Purrs from a pile of kittens are the perfect “om” meditation chant, working to calm my nervous system so I can think creatively.

Our cats are the inspiration for several characters in my books, and they’ll be featured in their own picture book, “One Cat Short of Crazy,” which I’m currently working on.

People thought we were crazy when we adopted three kittens last fall to add to the ten cats we already had, but we haven’t regretted it one bit. Our thirteen fur babies provide so much joy. That’s why I started making cat videos- I just wanted to share it with everyone else.

They’ve become almost entirely my social media content (yes, even on my author page) because who has time to come up with all the marketing stuff when you’re an indie author on a cat farm? And who doesn’t love a good cat video?

I’m sure when I get closer to finishing my picture book and Drascandar, the second novel in my middle grade fantasy series, I’ll start back up with some bookish videos to promote my work, but in the meantime, I’ll just be over here continuing to enjoy the antics of our baker’s dozen on the cat farm.
